I have enjoyed every single thing I have eaten here. The hot lunches are excellent, and I believe that this place makes my favorite po boy on this side of the river. Only crabby jacks compares. It's better than parkway, in my opinion. We only discovered this place three weeks ago after moving to Gretna. We have been four times for lunch, and would have gone more if I hadn't had business out of state. The menu is pretty standard for a local lunch spot, and the decor is also normal with a bit of New Orleans funkiness. I would call the pricing fair for this quality of food and portion size. I am a very big dude, and I left full each time. Three different employees have served me so far, and they were all exceptionally friendly. My basic summary of Seersucker is that it's a clean and pleasant place run by genuinely nice people that really know how to cook New Orleans style lunches and po boys. I'll give them as much business as one big dude can supply. Favorite dishes so far are the hamburger steak lunch with garlic mashed potato, the debris fries with cheddar, the steakhouse po boy, white beans with sausage, and the turkey po boy. The cornbread is also really good.

Seersucker is the best new restaurant of 2015. I realize it's only August, but trust me on this. If you spent any amount of time on the West Bank during lunch time you had probably been to, or at least heard of Donewar's in Gretna. When Donewar's closed I lost one of my favorite lunch spots, and the metro area lost one of the best roast beef po-boys. Located in the same building that Doenwar's operated from for so many years, Seersucker has not only filled the void left by the closing, they have actually improved significantly on a place I truly loved. Now that the history lesson is out of the way, I will explain why Seersucker is so great. The Atmosphere This building was an old neighborhood grocery. It always had that feel, but there was a very odd cinder block wall seperating the tables from the counter. Seersucker removed the wall, added tables and improved the ordering experience. Ordering is still done at the counter, but instead of milling about while waiting for your food, your given a number and it is brought to you at your table. Even though the atmosphere has been classed up significantly, the place still has a friendly, neighborhood feel. The owners are very friendly and approachable. I had several good conversations about the business, their food, etc. on my first few visits. It's nice to see good people turning their dream into a successful restaurant. The Food Po-Boys - The roast beef po-boy is the best on the Westbank and a contender for best in the metro area. The roast beef is cooked using the Donewar family recipe and it shows. The roast is tender, garlicky and full of that beefy flavor only a New Orleanian would understand. The sandwich is dressed perfectly with just the right mayo and gravy to meat ratio meaning you'll get a little on your hands, but not so much that it overshadows the meat. My one complaint is that the bread was not Leidenheimer so the outside was slightly too soft, but I easily forgot that after my first bite. If you love traditional roast beef po-boys, this is one to try. In addition to the standard po-boys there is also a specialty sandwich menu. I've only had one, but it was also very good. The angry chicken po-boy is their take on a buffalo chicken sandwich. Just like the roast beef the buffalo sauce was front and center, but didn't overshadow the perfectly fried chicken. Fries - The fries are hand cut daily and it shows. They are very good with just ketchup, but to really elevate this dish, get the debris fries. I've had these twice and if I had to pick this over the po-boy ID be hard pressed to choose just one. The debris fries are topped with melted cheddar and their excellent garlicky gravy. I strongly encourage you to order these. Beans - I've had both the red beans and white beans and both are great. For a long time Thursday lunch meant white beans with a pork chop. That is what initially led me to try Seersucker. The mere mention of that special on a Thursday had me salivating and driving on autopilot to Gretna. Their white beans are perfect with the addition of Tabasco and damn good without hot sauce. The red beans may have actually been better than the white, but I will require several more samplings to be sure. In summary, Seersucker is great and it's worth the drive from pretty much anywhere.

This became my favorite lunch spot after just one visit. Folks are incredibly friendly and the decor is welcoming. Seeesucker is southern hospitality meeting southern cooking. Highlights include the crispy seasoned fries, incredible roast beef, and the Gumbo on Fridays. If you're lucky enough to go in on a day they have bread pudding, be sure to order an extra one for later.

Great food. Shrimp roumaloude salad was great. Chicken tenders were HUGE. Turkey poboy was shredded and awesome with fat slice of tomato, mayonnaise and other usual fixin's. Highly recommend. One suggestion for the shop owner: consider updating outside menu board the night before rather than day of - lots of drive-by traffic at night; we might see special and come by next day...

Visit New Orleans annually for jazzfest tradition. First time venturing across the water and trying this hidden gem. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. Huge fan of the Surf N Turf Po'Boy and Debris Fries....if you think its too much gravy for one meal, its not, I may even suggest a side of that gravy as a beverage.

Great food and lots of great options on the menu. They even went out of their way to make a special lunch for our picky little girl. Great service and we will be back every time we come to NOLA.

I eat here multiple times a week and LOVE IT! Specials that change weekly, daily specials, and amazing bread pudding. The people who work here are also super sweet! Hamburger steak, pulled pork sandwich, chicken and waffles, and the gumbo are all worth trying!
